It's not something people should be all that concerned about unless they hunt and eat armadillos or are friends with those who do (hence why I moved back into town as a teenager and totally forgot it was a thing until today), though I am mildly surprised that the CDC is only now saying it's endemic in Florida, considering that I was aware it was a danger with armadillos when I was a kid.

There are so many dangers in Florida that I'd completely forgotten that leprosy from armadillos was on the list. It's one of the things I knew as a kid living in the country, but unlike racoons, armadillos don't turn up in town so I haven't thought about it in eons.

@arvrrob That cattle whip etymology is probably a modernish back-definition because a lot of Florida crackers raised cattle, but is actually a much older term

@MisuseCase Lawton Chiles got elected governor twice while running around the state calling himself a cracker. There's also a museum, a Cracker Country Trail, and a bunch I'm probably forgetting.

Andy Ngo has been locked out of his Twitter account after posting several tweets which violated Twitter's ToS. Ngo has used Twitter to spread racist propaganda and to dox journalists and victims of violent crimes. Ngo frequently uses social media to incite violence against his political enemies, including a deadly mass shooting carried out by one of Ngo's followers against a group targeted by Ngo.
