There are so many dangers in Florida that I'd completely forgotten that leprosy from armadillos was on the list. It's one of the things I knew as a kid living in the country, but unlike racoons, armadillos don't turn up in town so I haven't thought about it in eons.

It's not something people should be all that concerned about unless they hunt and eat armadillos or are friends with those who do (hence why I moved back into town as a teenager and totally forgot it was a thing until today), though I am mildly surprised that the CDC is only now saying it's endemic in Florida, considering that I was aware it was a danger with armadillos when I was a kid.
@KEBrightbill Speaking of wildlife in Florida that's out to get you; I had my first run in with noseeums while visiting family down there and now I look (and feel) like I have chicken pox
@SirOpsALot Those are the worst.
@KEBrightbill the best part was getting swarmed one day and watching more and more welts show up every day for the next week. allegra is finally taking the edge off, thankfully
@SirOpsALot That's good Allegra is helping. If it wasn't for the disease risk from mosquitoes, I'd say noseeums are even worse
