It's not about whether you personally want to or need to drive. It’s about understanding the simple truth that in cities, if everyone tries to move by car, no one moves much at all. So the more of us that are enticed to walk, bike and take transit, the better cities work for EVERYONE.

Icy roads last month left residents in Greenwich trapped in their homes. Undoubtedly this happened in our borough too. Yet still councils prioritise cars over people and do nothing to make pavements safer but grit roads instead

Great article but unfortunately with a lot of focus on Canadian schemes when there are plenty in the U.K.

Do like the idea of Swopfiets in the Netherlands which is a long-term loan scheme

If we are to get more people on bikes - good for #health and for #AirPollution - then these schemes need to be readily accessible along with proper safe infrastructure

(Caveat - bikes should not be left blocking pavements)

A bonfire of EU legislation is what the Tories are aiming to do

Deregulation might cut #RedTape but the red tape is there for a reason, as #Grenfell writer & overall #housing expert Peter Apps argues powerfully

Grenfell showed exactly why we need red tape, yet the Tories are desperate to bin thousands of laws

As parliament debates sweeping away EU rules, MPs should remember that deregulation paved the way to the deadly fire in 2017, says author Peter Apps
