Genealogist for over 40+ years. My father handed me a bunch of documents he had collected and said "Do something with this". I've been addicted ever since. Main areas of research other than US are Ireland, England, Wales, and Cornwall. I do research on my family and for others. I am ex art teacher, mom of 3 adults, cat lady, romance novel reader. #Genealogy #HistoricalRomance #cats #birds

Trying to sort the multiple Thomas Sheehy / Sheehans in Waterbury, Connecticut at turn of the 20th Cent. On 25 Nov 1900 one Thomas Sheehan was arrested for stealing a donkey harness. The next day, another Thomas Sheehan, wanted to make it clear that he was NOT the one who stole the harness!! LOL Atleast I was able to match "Thomas Sheehan, the Expressman" with the correct Thomas Sheehan in 1900 Census. #genealogy #samename
Feeling old today.. but lucky. This photo seems like it's from so long ago (c. 1905) but I've met the four people on the right, in fact knew them well. Photo clockwise from left: My great great grandmother Margaret Wrynn Smith, My great grandfather George Rundle, My great aunt Corrine Rundle (Moore), My great grandmother Jen Smith Rundle, my great aunt Margaret Rundle (Grinold) All from Wallingford, CT. #genealogy
We were at a family birthday today and my daughter was talking about my husband's first cousin (the now matriarch of the family). My daughter says "When people ask how she is related to me I say We are Irish.. everyone is a cousin!!" Truth. #genealogy
I got a new camera this week..so of course first photo I took had to be of one of my cats, Missy. #caturday
For those of you not familiar with WayBack Machine at https://web.archive.org/ I highly reccommend. In the past I've found docs and books. I recently was contacted by another researcher about a topic that I had written about but "lost" the post in a website move. Today I was able to find the old post on the Wayback machine and repost the article on my website! #genealogy #researchtips #Burnham #Hartford #Windsor https://www.mygenealogyresearch.net/the-confusing-origins-of-thomas-burnham/

"Libraries aren't just a place to obtain books for free. They're one of the few public spaces left in our society where you're allowed to exist without the expectation of spending money."
Recently went down a research hole based on one article I had saved awhile ago. It turned out to be an interesting ride. I wrote about it here: #genealogy #ireland https://www.mygenealogyresearch.net/edward-stanford-from-soldier-to-criminal/
Edward Stanford - From Soldier to Criminal - My Genealogy Research

Edward Stanford was born in the fall of 1826. At age 17 he enlisted in the 12th Regiment Foot. I don’t have a lot about his actual service but do know that he was discharged in 1860. When he returned to Mohill he settled in Shannagh and ,besides being a pensioner, he worked as a baker and a butcher. Shortly after he was convicted of murder.

Looking at it again I think it's Patrick, son of Timothy McWeeny "et O Nous" is where the wife/mother's name would go. O. Nous doesn't seem like a name!
