"NOT ALL wars have a winner. But every war has at least one loser and if—a big if—the ceasefire marks the end of the war in Iran, the biggest loser will be Donald Trump. The conflict has set back his chief war aims and revealed the shallowness of his vision for a new way of wielding American power."

"In the Oumi analysis, Gemini 2 provided answers that were “ungrounded” 37 percent of the time, meaning the AI Overviews cited websites that didn’t support the information they provided. But with Gemini 3, this jumped to 56 percent. On top of suggesting that the AI is pulling facts out of thin air, ungrounded responses make it difficult for users to verify the AI’s claims."

Hegseth announces automatic registration for US military draft to begin in December. Any immigrant who doesn't register within 30 days of turning 18 can be criminally charged.
While absurd, practically speaking all this does is show MAGA hypocrisy. Somehow automatic voter registration isn’t possible—but automatic registration for the draft program is both possible and now required.
MAGAs don't want to make it easier for young people to vote—just easier for them to die in Trump's illegal wars.

Trump said he "exceeded his objectives" in Iran. One wonders what those objectives could have been given that before the war, the Strait of Hormuz was freely open, but thanks to Trump's dealmaking prowess, ships must now pay a toll to Iran to be allowed safe transit.

Heck of a job there, Donny.

Thank you, AI bubblers and RAM speculators.

No, you’re not entitled to your opinion

Every year, I try to do at least two things with my students at least once. First, I make a point of addressing them as “philosophers” – a bit cheesy, but hopefully it encourages active learning. Secondly…
