An attorney but not your attorney.

This story about Balaji Srinivasan is absolutely bonkers. https://newrepublic.com/article/180487/balaji-srinivasan-network-state-plutocrat

The fact that VCs & others have not run away from any association with this psychopath is a pretty bad sign. WTF is wrong with YCombinator and Andreessen Horowitz that they’re willing to be associated with this psycho?

If Balaji Srinivasan is any guide, then the Silicon Valley plutocrats are definitely not OK.

This is a fantastic story about how the search engine tail wags the online content dog.

It's a form of enshittification, but it's a two-sided one that involves google's algorithmic choices and web designers' responses via Campbell's law (when a metric becomes a target, people do stupid shit)

In 1869 it was decided to have 9 Supreme Court justices at SCOTUS because there were 9 Circuit Courts.

Now there are 13 Circuit Courts. So what exactly are we waiting for?

Substack brands itself as avoiding value judgments, but its justification for allowing certain offensive speech is full of value judgments, chosen to make money (Ken White/The Popehat Report)

Social media data folx- is there a dataset of which accounts joined Bluesky when? Interested in doing a side project analysis sometime to test hypotheses about structural racism / sexism in approaches to developing a user-base through invite codes.
Want to see something cool? My team at @ProPublica took all of the Supreme Court justices' disclosures, cleaned them up, connected them, and put them in an easy-to-use database for you to search: http://projects.propublica.org/supreme-connections/

Didn't believe this was a thing until I actually saw it myself.

I bank at a small, local credit union. I recently cleared my autocomplete settings so plugged their name into #Google to get back to their homepage.

The Sponsored result IS NOT my bank's website. But is skinned the same. 100% a #phishing site served as a Google ad above the legitimate business website.

This is a major problem, my friends.

A woman who miscarried in her bathroom is being accused of "abuse of corpse." Stark County Ohio Assistant Prosecutor Lewis Guarnieri has decided to take this case to the grand jury.

Ohio has just voted to protect a woman's right to an abortion, and yet, there is this case, in Ohio happening right now.

up until now I’ve only needed defamation/anti-slapp lawyers (all fucking great) but a corporation has finally been so horrible to me that I’m thinking of actually going on the offensive. If anyone has a suggestion for a Bay Area lawyer knowledgeable about the interwebs pls lmk

A new, antisocial strain of the prosperity gospel is making its way into pulpits and breeding new hostility toward the least fortunate Americans.
