One of the many downsides of Disney buying 20th Century Fox was the immediate cancellation of a film based on David Peterson's extraordinary comic series Mouse Guard. Wes Ball was to have directed it, with VFX courtesy of Weta.

Watching the trailer for Ball's upcoming Planet of the Apes sequel I can't help mourning a movie that never was, and I can't shake the feeling that Peterson's work has influenced the visual direction of this one.
