Minulý rok som napísal pre Spravodaj Mykologickej Spoločnosti krátky článok o zapájaní širokej verejnosti (aj vás!) do mykologického výskumu. Dnes som ho v plnej forme zverejnil na svojej stránke.

Zapájanie širokej verejnosti do mykologického výskumu - Jonáš Gruska

V posledných rokoch sa čoraz viac skloňuje pojem tzv. "občianskej vedy" (citizen science). Ide o zapájanie laickej verejnosti do vedeckého výskumu pomocou vhodne zvolených nástrojov. Vo svojej podsta…

Posledných pár mesiacov trochu intenzívnejšie študujem svet ázijských čajov. Špecificky ma zaujímajú zrejúce a dozrievané čaje z čínskej provincie Yunnan typu pu'er (普洱茶). Keďže môj mozog najlepšie chápe veci v hierarchických diagramoch, rozhodol som sa si jeden vyrobiť aj pre pochopenie rozdielov v rôznych spracovaniach čaju. Pripomienky sú vítane 8-)

I started studying Japanese 200 days ago. At that time I planned a trip to Japan to meet up with MSHR & do some concerts and lecture in Tokyo. One of the reasons for studying was to connect with the environment & people, but I also took it as a challenge for my constantly decreasing mental capabilities. In the end, there were points during that trip when the little Japanese I knew was useful, especially outside the cities.

It wasn't my first time in Japan, but this time I definitely fell in love. And I plan to come back, so continuous studying still makes sense to me. Communicating with my friends in Japan in Japanese is still very hard, but when it works it feels almost superhuman. I never in my life thought I would be able to understand anything so complicated and different from my European context.

Still trying to find ways that truly work on my brain outside the classic Duolingo bite-sized lessons. Experimenting with spaced repetition systems such as Anki, WaniKani and immersion at the moment.

My introduction in the group:

My name is Jonáš and I've been studying fungi since 2018. In 2019 I organized a first mushroom festival named "mykoLOM" in Bratislava, Slovakia and it is a regular event ever since. You can find more about it at http://myko.lom.audio Since last year I am also active on the board of Slovak Mycological Society. I wrote couple of small publications, you can find the full list here: https://jonasgru.sk/Mycology+%26+lichenology

I would like to particularly highlight this one—DIY mycology starter point, I recommend it to everyone starting with fungi: https://jonasgru.sk/mycology/DIY+mycology

In case you are on Mastodon, you can follow me at http://kolektiva.social/@jonasgruska
I post all my mushroom photos on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&user_id=jonasgruska&verifiable=any

Started a Signal group dedicated to talking about european fungi. The goal is to have a non-formal chat about everything related to mushrooms 🍄 https://signal.group/#CjQKIHHdr7Ak_9kUwmzbzJem4Mybr4p9tYhjBlB3ruvqcTPHEhBlm56M9nD2SwDgAnckfmGM

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to record a forgotten #bell in the old town of #Bratislava. Cast in 1783 by Ján Ernest Christelli, it is possibly one of the largest bells in our city, rivaling the 2.5-tonne Wederin in St. Martin's Cathedral for the title. Currently, it remains silent due to the overwhelming number of other bells in the area.

I plan to incorporate these sounds into my ongoing artistic research exploring what bells represent today and how their roles have evolved over the centuries. My exhibition based on this research, *Zvon*, will be presented this year during the Hear Here festival in Leuven.
