For no apparent reason I have stopped placing two spaces after the period. It feels quite naughty, but it's time. I do recall a friend in college that had his thesis typed and the typist put spaces in a parenthetical clause like this ( <notice the spaces> ). The entire thesis needed retyping. Those were the days.
Why are university level courses in Deutschland taught in English? I think I know the answer, but I wonder how students feel about this.
Tamar Ziegler and I have just uploaded a short #NumberTheory paper to the #arXiv titled "infinite partial sumsets in the primes". https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.10303 The main result is that there exist two increasing sequences \(a_1 < a_2 < \dots \) and \(b_1 < b_2 < \dots\) such that \(a_i+b_j\) is prime for all \(i<j\). The argument uses the Maynard sieve and an intersectivity lemma of Bergelson. I discuss this result further on my blog at https://terrytao.wordpress.com/2023/01/26/infinite-partial-sumsets-in-the-primes/\)
Infinite partial sumsets in the primes

We show that there exist infinite sets $A = \{a_1,a_2,\dots\}$ and $B = \{b_1,b_2,\dots\}$ of natural numbers such that $a_i+b_j$ is prime whenever $1 \leq i < j$.

Honored to represent the field of trust and safety in today’s House Oversight Committee hearing. The stakes for this work — for national security, and for the future of the internet — couldn’t be higher. https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Roth-House-Oversight-opening-statement-V4-Final.pdf
Having tried all the suggestions, it is seemingly impossible to get Ubuntu 22.04 to work with wsl2 coupled with kde plasma, nvidia Cuda, and enabling systemd in wsl2. The nvidia Cuda is working, systemd has a bug in journaling (I think). This combo is just one pit that is rather a painful return to linux circa 2001.

"The Warriors" is an unusual 1979 film about a lethal conflict between New York City youth gangs that all takes place in one night. Filming was on location throughout the city, capturing the area at that time like few films I've ever seen. Very controversial when released -- some theaters backed out of showing it -- the film has become a true cult classic over the years, and I recommend it highly.

Currently free on #YouTube Movies & TV (likely U.S. only, sorry): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdt76k7OrGw&pp=sAQB

I am binge watching Stargate series on Prime video. So far through the sixth season and starting 7th. My favorite line so far is Jack O'Niell saying "Well, spank me rosy." Such an odd comment. Gosh, I'm dull.
If you are trying to reach people who might have money to buy your product, why would you advertise on a platform that allows members to not see your ads by paying a membership fee? As an advertiser wouldn't you especially want to reach the members who have money?
