Happy First Contact Day!
Finished @aptshadow's CHILDREN OF MEMORY, and by extension the whole trilogy.
First off, they're incredible. You should all read them. Secondly, the series has grown to mean an incredible amount to me.
The first book was one that my then-fiancé bought for a valentines day present while we were in the Waterstones we had visited a lot while just friends.
It was also the last book I ever lent to my mum. She didn't finish it after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. I ended up having to tell her the end - that everything worked out.
The second book was given to me on my birthday while I sat with my now-wife and baby at the hospital watching my mum slowly pass away from cancer. It was a huge escapism to return to that world of Children of Time.
The third book I have just finished coming up to three years after mum died, with my second child asleep on me and the baby of a few years ago now a 4yo and asleep the other side.
It's a series that has aged with me, and one that has also gone in remarkable, unexpected directions.
Wanted to say a huge thanks to Adrian Tchaikovsky for writing it all and bringing joy to mine and others' lives!
