I love that this 1836 treatise on lady's penmanship suggests that sitting the wrong way will get you very rounded, George Romney-ish shoulders. #penmanship #NewberryLibrary
Just FYI, I'm doing an adult ed seminar next week on the stuff that didn't make it into my exhibition A Show of Hands: #Handwriting in the Age of #Print! There will also be new acquisitions, including #microcalligraphy and 18th c carbon paper! #NewberryLibrary #BookHistory #calligraphy

Ok, today is the day that I start mastodoning in earnest. I'm totally fascinated by the fact that Jean de Beau-Chesne's La Cles de L'Escriture (1593) is dedicated to the Talbot sisters, who would have been 13, 11, & 8 at the time. We have the only copy recorded in ESTC- plz let me know if you have worked on this book! #NewberryLibrary #calligraphy #BookHistory #17thcWomen
Also, my chonky girl, Phemie.
Putting a toe into Mastodon...with a pic of my cats waiting for me
