(He/Him)

I’m the kind of tech nerd that waits to get a Steam Deck to immediately disassemble it to see it tick. If I’m not hunting for retro games I’m rolling dice in a TTRPG.

What a surprise for Thanksgiving. Looks like #deadbydaylight is running on #SteamDeck. I didn’t have a chance to try playing but another big multiplayer game on Deck is another big win.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a gaming focus Mastodon instance that’s LGBTQ+ inclusive? I’m thinking about moving away from the main mastodon.social instance because the local timeline is a little too overwhelming to me.
@zatomas I actually picked up a Killswitch case before they pulled them from sale. I opened up my Deck to confirm I had the right fan for the case and then I use a small hub that goes with me in my EDC bag. There's not a lot of I/O for the hub but since I have a NAS I don't really need more than keyboard & mouse and an RJ45.

@killyourfm This along with Nintendo's Wii Shop/old eShop makes a fantastic case against digital purchases. It's this erosion of ownership and preservation.

What's funny is I've ended buying a lot more Switch games physically because I know I can dump the games and keep them forever. I do worry about Steam on day no longer being around and what will happen to my library...

Finally got my DSLR working as a webcam on Nobara and was able to do a conference no problem. There's an audio delay for OBS apparently so I'd have to do some testing. I'm no longer missing the AUR at this point and it's making me boot Windows less. Great work @gloriouseggroll!
@glassbottommeg itch is a fantastic site I will continue to download random games from but it’s really hard to not make Steam my default. While there’s been a lot of talk about the big cut they take from devs (and recently the gambling which NEEDS to be addressed) but it’s really hard to hold a Steam Deck in your hands and think that the 30% wasn’t put to good use making the Steam Deck as good as it is. Linux gaming in general owes a ton to Valve. That said, indies deserve to be paid fairly.
@glassbottommeg I’m not a Linux expert so others will better chime in, but the official itch Linux launcher I don’t think has Proton launch options. Instead my first thought would be to check Lutris if there’s a script for downloading the Windows itch game or worst case grab the .exe and install it using Bottles or Wine. I’ve actually had a lot better luck lately just adding Windows game .exes to Steam and then forcing it to run under Proton. GOG Cyberpunk runs fine that way.
@glassbottommeg My answer depends. Does “Linux support” include double checking ProtonDB for user reports or for true native Linux version? For me I’m content with just good performance under Proton, but rather good Linux retail distribution. Steam, itchio, and Humble Bundle but the latter has a Windows only launcher for their Choice subscription which was a PAIN to get logged into on my Deck. Still haven’t on my Nobara PC.
