I don't know if this was a good idea or not, but I decided to wade into the controversial waters of the role of AI in writing. I know there are a lot of strong feels surrounding this topic, and I'm still exploring what I think. https://jmartintherapy.substack.com/p/what-is-writing-in-the-ai-age
Understanding the Current State of AI as a Writer

Searching for a healthy approach to emerging AI tools

Systemic Backbeats
@marcoarment @ryantoken Can confirm. When I started doing this years ago, my wife was mortified (she always used regular ear plugs), but once I got her to try it, she completely agreed. Better than regular plugs in every way.
I signed a book publication deal earlier this year & realized I need to start writing more regularly, either on the book or something else; just write. So I’m doing so in public! Subscribe to see if I can meet my book draft deadline on time! (And read my thoughts on various subjects) https://open.substack.com/pub/jmartintherapy/p/to-be-a-writer-one-must-write?r=j8gh2&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
To be a writer, one must write.

Why I'm undertaking a regular, laborious task of writing without assurance of success.

Systemic Backbeats
@elponypisador @Kampfdiestel @xkcd More of a Kazakh thing (by way of the UK).
@gruber Oh yes. I see that now.
@daringfireball I'm confused. Did Jobs never work under Sculley or Amelio? I thought he left Apple while under Sculley and returned before becoming CEO under Amelio.
@upgrade @imyke Thanks, @jsnell for the Apple //e love! The Apple //c (similar to the //e) was my first Apple product (actually my dad’s), and I later took it with me to college... in 1995! (to use with a modem and PINE software for my nascent email use) I mostly used the university computer labs, but the Apple //e and c each had a special place in my heart.
@marcintosh @robot This was my experience precisely. Matt Belloni sounded like he just rolled into the studio after some Hollywood all-nighter.
@gruber The entire team?!? WTF? As someone who loves baseball, and really doesn't pay attention to the other sports, that sucks.
@daringfireball Speaking of “great native apps,” q`I’m old enough to remember when the MLB app was a surprisingly advanced and amazing native app on the iPhone. Now it feels like a deprecated web app. I still use it, but only because there aren’t really good alternatives.
I’d love to read a deep dive on how far the MLB app has fallen.
