US PPI much cooler than expected at -0.5% vs. -0.1% est... more signs that inflation is retreating in Canada as well.
US Retail Sales for December - no bueno. -1.1% MoM

I remember covering Peterson's testimony before the Canadian Senate some five years ago, when he claimed that an anti-discrimination bill would created "compelled speech" and result in people going to jail for not using the correct gender pronouns.
It turned out to be, surprise, complete nonsense. None of the dire warnings he predicted even remotely came true. Yet he's going to garner alarmist headlines for yet another round of crackpottery.
I decided to take some time to reflect on some of the #QuoteBoost discourse, from the lens of moderation and community development. I expect these are not new thoughts since there's a lively discourse to which I'm largely oblivious.
Special thanks to @futurebird, whose posts have been especially illuminating for me.

Let me get the sequence of events right....
1) Idiot misogynist Andrew Tate gets banned from Twitter because he's an idiot misogynist
2) Other idiot Elon Musk let's Andrew Tate back on Twitter, because idiots certainly do enjoy one another.
3) Andrew Tate immediately uses his return to insult teenage girl Greta Thunberg
4) Thunberg totally owns Tate in an epic Twitter exchange
5) Tate attempts to recoup some face by lamely insulting Thunberg (who wisely does not engage) eventually admitting that he is in Romania, where he is wanted by police
6) Romanian authorities use this information to go arrest Tate, because he's wanted on suspicion of the very serious crime of abduction (of two girls)
Conclusion: Elon Musk might have inadvertently done a good thing.

You take a step toward him. He takes a step back.

Found an incredibly useful app for finding people to follow on Mastodon. It crawls your social graph then finds the people who your followers follow the most that you don't follow.
