“An acute perception doesn’t make you crazy. However sometimes it can drive you crazy.”

My latest in Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood about the time I traded Atari video games with a JHS pal and got to experience his family:

👩🏻‍🦱Mom in a stained nightie.
🧔🏻‍♂️ Dad refinishing furniture in an unventilated apartment.
👦🏻 Little brother sitting on a rickety washing machine.

Something for everyone! 🎉

Trading Video Games with Beven

Beven came to class with a dark brown leather briefcase that looked like it had been found on a pile of trash.

You know what you don’t hear about anymore? Nose bleeds. 👃🩸😪

That’s weird, right?

I mean you’d think that you’d at least see a few kids with nose bleeds once in a while.

Or is it one of those things that happened in the 1970s that doesn’t happen anymore. Like quicksand or spontaneous combustion.

Vaya con Dios, Flaco… 🦉😔

Died after whacking into a building on West 89th Street. One year of pure freedom after 13 years of captivity. Truly a New York story. https://newsroom.wcs.org/News-Releases/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/22056/Flaco-the-Eurasian-Eagle-Owl-Has-Died.aspx

Howie was one of the only kids my age who could get packs of plain fireworks without hassle.

My latest piece for Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood is up right now: A remberance of the times I ran errands for a neighbor, Mr. Dubinsky. https://mrbellersneighborhood.com/2023/12/running-errands-for-mr-dubinsky
Running Errands for Mr. Dubinsky

He lived on the third floor on our side of the building, one flight up from my family’s place.

Eh… I deleted “X” (aka: Twitter) and I deleted “Threads” because I don’t use it and sad to say, “Mastadon” gotta go too.

Basically keeping the accounts, but deleting apps of my iPhone. Better abandon them than risk an account ID going into the available pool.

Adios! 👋

Deleted the bird app (aka: Twitter) from my devices and am leaving the account as-is. Effectively abandoning it.

That place is such garbage and filled with toxic takes. It’s pretty useless.

Note that I’m not deleting my handle because I don’t want my name/handle to go into the “available” pool.

Have you read my latest piece in Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood about the time I tried to sell my brother’s collection of Nazi stamps to pay for a Millennium Falcon playset? Well, here it is! https://mrbellersneighborhood.com/2023/09/trying-to-cash-in-nazi-stamps-for-a-millennium-falcon
Trying to Cash in Nazi Stamps for a Millennium Falcon

It was huge, cool and could fit my 3.75” action figures without issue.
