Been on the internet since before it was cool, and continue being uncool.

If yr into CryptoShite, don't bother following, you might as well be a Reply Guy.

Avatar is a red toy tractor, with a white roof. It has a blue background. Banner is a mural on a shop front in New Brighton - this shows a marine scene with what would presumably be a mermaid, and to the right a purple octopus.

The mural is by the Christchurch DTR Crew .

The Newest College Admissions Ploy: Paying to Make Your Teen a “Peer-Reviewed” Author

A group of services, often connected to pricey college counselors, has arisen to help high schoolers carry out and publish research as a credential for their college applications. The research papers — and the publications — can be dubious.

I visited the saltmash at Aramoana in the weekend and saw the hectares of glasswort (Salicornia quinquefolia) and other mudflat turfs. The biggest saltmarsh in the region, it was going to be an aluminium smelter in the 1980s but was protected by public outcry.

There's quite a cool lunar halo at the moment in Christchurch. Likely other areas of NZ too, but I'm not there.

Good morning. 🍄🍄🍄

Since I was a child, I've heard the saying: "beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Where did that saying come from? The sentiment was first expressed in the 3rd Century BC in Greek. Shakespeare later in 1588 expressed the sentiment but not in those words. The person credited with the English verse, as I quoted, is a 19th century Irish writer, Margaret Hungerford in the book Molly Bawn, 1878 (phrases.org.uk). Interesting, huh ... ya gotta love the internet.

There are people, adults, alive today who don't remember life without the internet or cell phones. Well, at least they will never need to deal with and encyclopedia salesman. In the words of a popular Sci-Fi character, "fascinating."

"What you see is not what others see. We inhabit parallel worlds of perception, bounded by our interests and experience. What is obvious to some is invisible to others." - George Monbiot
