Shropshire is a ghost-ridden place. Every quiet corner hums with the voices of the past. Often, they are whispers, but other times, they are fierce battle cries.

No one really knows when, or indeed why Thomas Parr started to tell his neighbours he was born in 1483. His story is a strange one, that's for sure, with him maintaining he was 152 at the time of his death.

His purported longevity catapulted him from his sleepy Shropshire home to the court of King Charles I. I've written about the Owd Fella below!

In Scottish lore, Kelpies appear as black horse-like creatures who inhabit the waters & are capable of shape-shifting into a human, though they may retain their hoofs (which some associate w/the image of Satan). Thus, if you see a strange horse near water, you should not mount it for it will either drown you or else take you for its mate.
