If you're really anti-capitalism, you would jump at the opportunity to send money to someone who can't be employed due to extreme right-wingers harassing her and anyone who might employ her.
If you're an anarchist, you would salivate over the chance to proverbially punch nazis (yes, actual nazis) by making sure their victims get medical care, including (especially) for long term illnesses like asthma.
But if you just want to link to manifestos excusing your selfishness, then just go.
@charlag 1) isn't that the point of opening your own instance? That you can have complete control over its goings on?
2) The instance was opened to try and stem a rather large tide of harassment, to limited success. Had mastodon.social had more robust forms of dealing with harassment, then the instance wouldn't have needed to be opened. Given a large enough amount of harassment leveled at a person, instance wide blocking is the only manageable way to combat it.
Current living situation:
I still need to find a place by the end of May, the sooner the better tbh. I may be able to work out keeping my current place if someone can the other room which is going for about 600. Though honestly finding a cheaper place is a much better option. I'm a 25 year old gay transwoman who works in tech looking for a roommate in Portland or Seattle (tho that would be a bigger move).
