It's frustrating, because one can be a little disabled, one can have some aspect of an experience, and it's good to realize we can all benefit from certain changes or that anti-ableism benefits everyone... but that isn't what people are getting at, they're attempting to minimize someone else's experiences in life to be equivalent to some minor inconvenience that they're familiar with for the purposes of dismissing those experiences.

I mean that's practically how we are defined as disordered. We annoy allistics, therefore we, among many others in the DSM, are disordered. If how we thought and acted was socially accepted a good chunk of is would never been medicalized to begin with.

@anomalon
@marytzu lol as though religiously traumatized people need to be nicer to the religions that traumatized them.

one can talk about the bullshit of new atheism and, say, its islamophobia and support for the war on terror, without ascribing that to a trauma response instead of the actual underlying racism of a movement of mostly white guys who went on to help form the alt-right, alongside the religious fundamentalists they were critcizing as token cover for said racism. people saying mean shit about churches that do bad shit isn't some unfair attirude in need of fixing, it's an attitude even religious people ought to be adopting if they wish to avoid traumatizing people in the first place.

@Zumbador
@actuallyautistic or my favorite, crying about people faking autism, as though people pretending to be autistic is our chief concern and not allistics finding excuses to fakeclaim autistics

There are some rpi knockoffs like the Le Potato that are compatible with rpi 3b cases, I use one as a simple home fileserver. Don't kmow of any that woukd replace a full on rpi 4+. If you get fancier than that you start running into stuff like Intel NUCs that are just regular ass x86, where you get into the territory of making your own opnsense multigig gateway or just a regular ass mini pc or fancy home theatre setup, losing the really tiny form factor.

But if your issue is that Rpi hired a cop and threw a fit that people kept making fun of them for hiring a cop, Intel absolutely does far worse things in addition to hiring cops. The Libre Comouter people who make Le Potato seem fine enough I guess, but I doubt they've got an established ACAB stance. These are treats ultimately based on ezploitation, no matter what.

culturally i don't know how to avoid the "i'm mod of my own instance and i'm going to make that your problem" issue, like when white jackasses were telling black people to CW talking about their day because they felt uncomfortable racism is a thing. it's not as bad as a reddit mod who is utterly unaccountable and can just decide to cut you off from a topic because you called a bigot a mean name, but there is an attitude that every incident requires every soul on the fedi to get personally involved that just isn't emotionally sustainable. instance drama is extremely unpleasant and the only solutions offered are to go to smaller instances where you're further implicated in whatever beefs or to run your own instance as though money grows on trees and everyone is willing to buy hardware and set up software to shitpost.

oh and the feds got ahold of a kolektiva backup with our emails, DM's, encrypted passwords, IP addresses, and everything because some chucklefuck admin got arrested with the unencrypted backuo on a physical hard drive in their possession. so there's the issue of trusting amatuers with security and needing to assume an admin is feeding info on you to a hostile party.

i think at least part of this can be addressed with software other than mastodon focusing on performance and security and being nearly foolproof in terms of not letting peoole misconfigure shit, but bluesky doesn't fundamentally change any of the problems of corporate controlled media or the cultural problems of high density mod poisoning.

One of my favorite memes features a serval.

@mars if someone deletes their post it also disconnects that comment chain from the rest of the thread which is also super annoying. i have a ton of cat pictures that aren't visible when you click on the main thread anymore 'cause it was a reply to someone that later needed to delete their posts.
