I'm a blind ADHD activistic queer New Zealand expat. I'm also an Indigenous Australian (when imposter syndrome isn’t raring its ugly head.)
I have many different interests, some of which include music and various audio related things, books and hanging out with people.
I also love a good game when the mood strikes.

Thought for the day:

When I invented the New Management in the Laundry Files I was NOT trying to write predictive mode dystopian SF, dammit!

(Side-eyes the USA.)

The campest, gothest thing ever. I give you the skull mirrorball.

From #DadSaysJokes I haven't seen my twin brother since I left Australia.

We were separated at Perth.

@arqeria @stevo399 Thing is though allergies can disrupt medication and knock your inflammatory responses out of whack. There should absolutely be driver consequences, though with uber rating a driver badly does bad things to them algorithmically so there's always that option.
@stevo399 Apparently you can now have you're an assistance animal handler listed on your uber profile in Australia. I'm on holiday in New Zealand right now so can't test it, but I agree listing you have a service animal on your profiles is way to go. At the very least you'll know a driver is canceling before they drive up to your house and drive away again. I've always felt a little bit uncomfortable with the driver is entirely responsible for cleaning up the dog hair you've left in their car arguement.
@gocu54 @rooktallon Yeah I'm pretty sure you can't in Australia, I'm curious now and will look! lol. But also we'd probably be refused sale because blind. The laws and health and safety regs are very different over this way. I could probably get pepper spray though.
@gocu54 @rooktallon Sorry if I accidentally replied a bunch of times, my client went down for a minute. It is possible to defend yourself yeah. I mean when you're the level of short that I am (about 4 foot 6 or so) you do need to be taught, and this stuff really should be more easily available than it is.
@rooktallon @gocu54 Yeah, I'm blind and very short myself. Any disabled person is vulnerable . I'd be more likely to go out with maybe two or three, but I don't really like going to clubs, so it isn't the same kind of problem if you're chilling at the bar or whatever.
@rooktallon @gocu54 It can also be a safety thing. If you go out in groups, you've got someone who'll notice if you're not with them and go looking for you. Less chance of being raped, someone keeping an eye on your drink if you go for a dance, or keeping you safe if you've had you drink spiked with something, or someone's stealth injected you with something which is getting more common. It can also be a social thing. Personally for me going round with 6 people all the time sounds bloody exhausting 😂

client: we can't restore from our backup, can you help?

the 'backup': three years of logs stating that the backup failed (ssh error 'Permission denied (publickey))', no other data
