@maxim So if the parliament rejects it, it doesn't go to trialogue, right?
@maxim @kellerkindt
So the previous parliament vote adopted the good amendments and then adopted the proposal as a whole, then EPP pushed for a re-vote which is today and now the parliament rejects the proposal as a whole? Is that what's happening?

Zuckerberg settles $8 billion lawsuit over Cambridge Analytica scandal, avoids testifying

Mark Zuckerberg and current and former Meta executives agreed on Thursday to settle a $8 billion shareholder lawsuit alleging the company’s directors failed to prevent billions of dollars in fines and legal costs stemming from repeated Facebook user privacy violations. The Federal Trade Commission in 2019 fined Facebook $5 billion in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica data harvesting scandal.

@broadwaybabyto

Merry Christmas! I hope the kindness you radiate comes back to you twofold!

I hate that I can basically recycle my posts about Chat Control every month or so. These lobbyists are extremely motivated.

Let's show them that we are
even more motivated than them to protect privacy rights, human rights, and democracy! ✊🔒

Recent news:
"Just before a decisive meeting in Brussels, digital rights expert and former Member of the European Parliament Dr. Patrick Breyer is sounding the alarm. Using a “deceptive sleight of hand,” a mandatory and expanded Chat Control is being pushed through the back door, in a form even more intrusive than the originally rejected plan. The legislative package could be greenlit tomorrow in a closed-door EU working group session."

The original proposal was from the commission. It has been rejected multiple times by the council already and they keep bringing it back. The parliament also slammed it and proposed a much more sane approach.

The latest "compromise" version was proposed by Denmark.

I believe stopping AI is literally impossible. Pandora's box is open, just like it's impossible to stop the Internet. And honestly, I find it very helpful. I hope it can exponentially advance medical research too.

My main concerns are that it can aid mass surveillance in others' hands and be privacy invasive in one's hands. The latter can be mitigated by using Proton's Lumo or running an LLM locally.

Regarding art, the market will reject it, if it believes AI content is not art

@profdiggity I hope you're doing solo or P2Pool ;)
@profdiggity Are you mining with anything? The power costs can be brutal, yeah. Thinking about solar that could offset them. I wanna mine a Bitcoin block in my lifetime
