I think part of the reason why the amateur critic-influencer of Hypesage was mocked and insulted into even further obscurity was because he was the perfect mirror of music fandom post-LastFM. This was because the more insulated obscurantist crate/algo digger side of fandom didn't fully understand that 15+ years of social media has completely shredded normalcy as consumer identity to scrap pieces (idk the full correct construction of this would be. Basically rephrasing "normal people don't exist anymore" but less absolute). So a brazenly Youtube/Instagram-centric guy that would basically blabber about anything that was accessible and palatable wallpaper music sent free from indie styled labels like Captured Tracks and Carpark and Merge strongly harshed the vibe of aspiring tastemaker curators and music supervisors proud to share Long Season by Fishmans.
- crystalizing popularity of autofiction in both mainstream and 'alternative' literature (ex. Outline, The Magician)
- higher quality podcasts supplanting the previous generation of edutainment and audio drama
- asia webnovel and 'LitRPG' boom self-segregating into own platforms with AI generated narration, sometimes with multiple illustrations
- most popular podcasts include "two guys and a producer-editor-assisstant that websurfs to place duct tape & epoxy on the human errors of the hosts and guests"
Solving the literacy crisis by reclassifying podcasts as audiobooks.
Part of the problem with trying to reuse smartphone and tablet e-waste as alternatives to SBCs or servers is how much flexibility is dependent on a single MicroUSB/USB-C port. Say that the touch screen is busted and gliding your finger potentially brings glass shards. Your best chance is that your USB hub has an HDMI/DP output and it automatically works for both Android and any other ARM compatible OS.
If it doesn't work, one now has to tinker with LVDS/eDP output on the level of SMD pins and pads.
Getting guitarists to do basic soldering of 3-way switches and potentiometers is already a challenge, and I strongly doubt the average 'techie' influencer or person has the patience or knowledge to work on SMDs.
And this doesn't even touch on enabling more I/O than just video!
>Why even install Linux, Android has all the important stuff like Termux and Obsidian and Emacs!
One just ends up with a good amount of performance left on the table, especially if one is using the factory install and not AOSP/Lineage. Android is functionally like any other proprietary OS where they will push back against any attempts to pare back or remove unnecessary features or programs.
>Just get an SBC
Show me a Cortex A53 board with 4GB DDR4 memory under $45 total, and I've share with you a feature complete ReactOS.
Still need to ask the LowRISC people whatever happened to their own planned SoC/Raspberry Pi clone. I know about the Ibex processor, but that feels closer to both Arduino scale, but also bunnie's Precursor FPGA project due to its emphasis on security. Plus it was never made available beyond individual $300+ units from Mouser like it's a Freescale design.
