Amateur genealogist since 1975, now specializing in Germanic genealogy. Currently president, editor, and "de facto" librarian of the Immigrant Genealogical Society, of Burbank, California, USA. I enjoy exploring 23andMe and AncestryDNA matches, and studying the reasons one emigrates (emphasis on 19th c.). My ancestry is all in St. Louis MO by about 1907, and my wife's ancestry is all in Mercer Co., MO by about 1876. Wikitree: Seyffert-37.
It has been slightly over a month since former #ImmigrantGenSoc board member Eldon L. Knuth passed on, at age 97 at his home in Thousand Oaks, California. He was one of our #genealogy greats, having been awarded the Fritz-Reuter Medal by the Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg for his work in discovering the identity of "Jürnjakob Swehn." His profile is at #Wikitree as Knuth-294, where his obituary (just published in our society's April 2023 Newsletter) may be read.
With the end of the Westfälischer Genealogentag this weekend, it is apparent that the genealogy world is getting back to normal after several years of Covid-19. Like others, this is an every other year event. So this was the first meeting in four years! The picture shows what we've all been missing....

Do you belong to a writer's group for genealogists? I do, and it's hosted by the Whittier (CA, USA) Area Genealogical Society, or "WAGS." My latest "story" was published in their newsletter, and I also got the March notice:
"The WAGS Life Story Writing Group will have a ZOOM meeting on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8th from 1-3 pm (PT) and an in-person meeting at PARNELL PARK on WEDS., MARCH 22nd from 1-3 pm (PT). Please join us for friendly sharing and discussion."

@MarthaAnne Here's what this kind man posted on #Ancestry for you to find as you research your #Gasconade #Genealogy in #KreisStolp and #KreisLauenburg in #Pommern.
@MarthaAnne Another #Genealogy breakthrough for you! Studying the "other" #Gasconade Dieball family, I found a hint attached to his mother's #Ancestry profile.
