Queer vegan UK librarian.
Finnophile language geek (français, svenska, suomi, not enough time to improve any other languages until I retire...).
Cat lady: currently companion to one gorgeous old kitty, who was my foster fail.
Crafter: currently mostly cross stitch but I do flit about.
Accidental gardener: stumbled into allotmenteering and loving it more every day.
Someone told me vocal fry is extremely widespread in Finnish and I can't stop noticing it now. So I'm trying to use it more and it's def becoming more natural. (Screw the discrimination, I'll practise in English too) V satisfying as I've never had good voice control (lets not try singing again yet tho 🤣).
So this is a good time to recommend the Vocal Fries sociolinguistics podcast again, great for all language enthusiasts 🤩 https://pca.st/podcast/df8b0310-53b5-0135-902b-63f4b61a9224

Needed that. A lovely day with my #BoardGames crew, first time after the loss of one of us 🥹 Different dynamic but we got cheeky with Unstable Unicorns (party games less my thing but gotta be childish sometimes), teamwork made the dream work in Sub Terra II (well we technically fell on the entrance tile but close enough), and Wyrmspan (love it, teaching intimidating but fine, though it's a beast for table space, isn't it!)
I found my favourite hat! I'm so happy! 👯Bought in Paris 2001, the most perfect fit and shape so not very replaceable and I love it so much 🤩 Turns out it was in a pocket of my swimming bag. That'll teach me to be so slack about going swimming 🤣
I installed an app beginning with H so all my post-H apps shifted places 😭 But if life gives you lemons...time to reset my phone back into Finnish, which also renames a few apps but they've moved anyway 😊 We are back to full immersion!
Happy Friday terrific tooters! It's been another week here and I'd like to stop worrying about things soon please. But Friday is Funday (inc: only allowed fun meetings at work on Fridays) and I can't believe how excited I am for the supermarket later 🤣 Hosting peeps this weekend so "forced" to splash out on the good stuff like pomegranate seeds to impress them. I might even roast some chickpeas! Simple pleasures ☺️
I'm good at staying calm about things but people parking on the pavement and slightly into my dropped kerb irks me so bad 😠 I can get out but only thin able-bodied people can walk past. It's not constant here thankfully which prob makes it more annoying! Is there somewhere I can buy polite kind postcards (UK) to put on windshields to educate them not to do this?
Don't you love it when your phone's pop-up with "on this day" photo memories is just a bunch of photos of Chinese takeaway? 😂 Thankfully I had the same food last night so have leftovers today and it hasn't made me envious!
(It doesn't need defending, but the otherwise-perfect VeggieWorld doesn't have pics on its menu so I've nerded out creating my own photo album for my friends who visit :)
Swipe input is generally very reliable for me except why does it still not realise I'm going to Board Game Geek and autocorrect to Board Game Hell?! I shall persist to log today's plays though. Pergola was just as delightful as I expected, great components and design and I do love a nature game where I can squeal about how much I love bees #BoardGames https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/424573/pergola

Well, a bff's funeral yesterday and it was a surprisingly lovely day. Liam brought so many wonderful people together in life and death - beautiful after-party (his words) and I smashed it at Bananagrams as always ;-) Surprised also to feel my meditation practice instincts kick in to keep me relatively composed and attentive at the service with solid breathing, which greatly helped (you don't realise the tool's power!). Now to keep spreading the joy and adventurous curiosity that he did...
Recommend this so much! Tons of info and learnt so much about the industry & decolonisation, as well as geography. And tasting four amaaaazing bars, even 60% was divine when it's such good quality (I'm normally an 85+ girl, but am definitely ordering their 100% soon) >
