TattieJust one trans woman's opinion, but I hold that the ideal way to recover from accidentally misgendering a person and being called out is to simply repeat the sentence, corrected. No apologies (or just a quick "sorry" or "pardon" if it flows), no justifications. It happens. We get it. Nobody's looking to shame anyone, only correct a mistake before it perpetuates.

B: "They"
A: "And then they told me that they wanted to meet me at this coffee shop..."

If your fucking processes aren't respecting people complaining about toil and you aren't doing God Damn Process Mapping today then what the fuck kind of difference do you want from Ai? If you don't want to do the work of examining and reducing wasted time today what is AI going to do?
You are just asking some psycho mid level dev to rush in and replace your whole process and the knowledge captured in it with some unmaintanable vibe coded shit.
The constant executive paranoia that someone will magically replace their entire business with some fucking AI magical box is completely batshit.
And it's constantly funneled into putting all the weight of inventing some other magical box they haven't thought of yet on everyone below them in the fucking company, and shoveling expectations created by fucking lying ai bullshit peddlers onto everyone
I don't understand why my team, whose whole thing is picking up support for the crap other teams have moved on from, still somehow has to train all of the product owners in basic shit that they should have done with every other team before coming to us
In a decade or so someone in the smoking crater of Journalism will discover that beneath the evaluations and hype, nearly all the gains outside narrow, repetitive coding tasks supposedly realized by ai was just coming from the pressure of labor discipline, clawing back the perks meant to keep engineers from unionizing, setting insane organizational goals, and burning out an entire generation of knowledge workers by the time they turn 30.
And everyone left in the industry will be like, well duh we could have told you that, either because they watched it happen or they can finally admit that was the plan all along.
The conversation at the margins in my company are already starting to turn from
"we've been ramming these tools down engineer's throats with no multiplicative increase in delivery for a year now"
to
"you engineers have been asking for these tools and now you have them so start delivering"
And I'm so fucking tired
The biggest tell for how AI is not the transformational sea change to society these dumb fuckers think it is is that the wealthiest people in the room don't feel like it's threatening their existence or the structures beneath them that they feed off of.
If it can't threaten the power of capital it's just another failed technology along the decline of late capitalism that speeds up an inhumane and unsustainable distribution of resources away from people.
