Tonight, in dining misadventures with young puppies:

I’m going to make ratatouille! And then we should have some good French sausages with mirepoix.

Oops. No one’s been to the store in days. But I do have half a fennel bulb, and I planted leeks in the garden… so that plus the carrots will be adequate to the task 😅

Oh! We should have some good bread. But nobody can run to the store… Wait… Do I still have one loaf of focaccia left in the freezer? I do!

Tomorrow night might be pb&j.

First ratatouille of the season is in the oven in my favorite handmade pottery casserole dish. ☺️

All the usual stuff plus summer savory, fresh thyme sprigs. 🤤

Just saw an interesting long shot job posting that I might toss a résumé into.

Or I might skip it and take more pics like this.

Dinner tonight was a massive pot of summer risotto made with Samin Nosrat’s corn cob broth, a variety of veggies and local sausage, a bit of white wine and a touch of lemon…marjoram and thyme. Thank all the gods for AC.

It was thick enough for the spoon to stand upright until I chose to move it!

I have become Nonna.

Somehow, I made chocolate chip cookies while also dealing with puppies, answering emails, and getting my second shingles vaccine.

They’re perfect. And the puppies are wonderful too. 😜
