Just a new person here. I don't mind random pointless chill interactions.

What a cute bird. Looks like a silly mango.

Oh. And you asked which distros. Fedora Workstation / KDE Plasma, Nobara, Mint, Ubuntu come to mind.
Curious which you end up liking and why, would be happy to hear about it.

Remember to try not getting too stressed out or frustrated. Try not feeling like you're in a hurry. Typing out basic questions into search engines will be your friend. And you don't need to understand everything right away.

Yeah, there could be some very clear noob documentation: "Want X thing? Open terminal and write 'sudo dnf bla bla'. Here is an explanation of what this command does. . ."
A lot of stuff's pretty simple ONCE you know it. But not having initial exposure to some things creates friction.

Even just a searchable dictionary could make people feel more grounded. (But typing out clear search queries does solve a lot of issues.)

You should set up a VM and try out lots of distros just to see what feels right without needing to constantly full on install them.

If the well's poisoned, stop drinking from it.
Build real networks with real humans and form real friendships. And regard most things with: "Who knows these days. Sounds like that'd be what these known bad actors want, so might be true."

Assign some actors (journalists, etc) as trusted ones and audit their track record and conduct. It's human to err, though.
There could be some AI to detect likely disinformation campaign patterns, too. Flagging known bad actors might be good, too.

Well, my concept would be just to have the government mail adults a list of little single use codes they can use. With the codes not being connected to a specific identity. Maybe 200 codes.

And whenever something requires: "Authenticate adult status." you just pull up the little list of codes and write something like: "EOAY-2734-BB28" and the site asks some gov database if the code is legit and gets just a: "Yep." in response and that's it. Cheaper and safer than many alternatives.

Looks a bit like it's evolving towards being a slug.

Honestly depends. If it's a sports channel by a counter with some people craning up to stare at it, that might be a bit atmospheric and positive.
Some totally random Vietnamese/Indonesian soap opera might be atmospheric, too.

But if it's some annoying monitor playing 90's stuff while I'm trying to socialize and relax, then it might be pretty meh.
If there's canned laughter coming from it, it'll probably be annoying.

@gabrielesvelto
Well, who knows. There was a lot of investment in physical hardware for processing plants. After those become less valuable due to them having less of a purpose to exist, the bubble will properly pop.
But theoretically there could be some way to repurpose them or maybe they were never intended for the publicly expressed purpose.
@BreakingImpossible
Oh, that anti-sapper design quite interesting.
Old historical designs like those are interesting to learn about.
