The Republican National Congress isn't just attended by the Trump family and Hulk Hogan: The Smithsonian's political history curators are also there, collecting items that will help tell the story of the 2024 presidential election. @TheConversationUS interviewed two of them about the items they're seeing and what they mean. "Because this convention is so united behind Trump, there’s less need to use signs and other materials to object to or support other candidates," says curator Jon Grinspan. "An absence of objects can say as much about a moment in time as a wealth of them."

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of decentralized blockchain Ethereum, has issued a warning to his fellow tech leaders against choosing a candidate purely based on whether they claim to be “pro-crypto.”

While he didn’t name any candidate specifically, his warning comes just one day after prominent venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz announced their support for Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

“In a blog post, Buterin said it’s more important to scrutinize a candidate’s broader policies to ensure they support cryptocurrency’s underlying goals, including internationalism and protection for private communications,” reports @Techcrunch. Here’s more.

If you've ever wondered why some Wi-Fi is free (like in hotels), it's because typically data about your browsing is sold to countless ad companies that will happily buy it.

Had to use the hotel WiFi recently on a trip, and after clicking "agree" to their terms of service, the Little Snitch firewall on my Mac went bonkers. I must have denied 20-30 outbound requests to advertising networks. It still worked, though, so I'm guessing I didn't manage to block all of it.
