I'm not an HR professional but
A follow up on the CDC's process to update infection control guidance for health care: On Nov. 3, CDC's advisory committee HICPAC approved its weak draft that utterly fails to update based on scientific evidence regarding aerosol transmission (and lots of other issues) The draft is under review at the CDC and CDC Director Mandy Cohen has the opportunity to reject HICPAC's draft. Take action:
Sign the petition to urge CDC Director Mandy Cohen to reject HICPAC's draft and protect health care workers and patients from infectious diseases!
Sign as an individual here<https://act.nnu.org/sign/urge-mandy-cohen-to-reject-hicpacs-draft/>, or as an organization here<https://act.nnu.org/sign/urge-mandy-cohen-to-reject-hicpacs-draft-org/>. #Health #CovidIsNotOver

#Starbucks doesn't get nearly enough attention for being a flagrant #labor law violator. I hear about their "burned" coffee constantly but rarely any of this. Labor, generally, seems to be a back page cause in 2023.

"Over the past eight months, Starbucks has lost 16 out of 17 cases decided by NLRB administrative law judges, facing charges such as worker intimidation, discriminatory rules, and unlawful termination of union organizers."

My friend Alyce had her wheelchair and car stolen. The car is modified to fit her motorised wheelchair; since it was stolen she's been housebound. They were recovered but she has some significant expenses to get it working again. Please share or support if you can.

Your reminder that I've written a book on the business risks of generative AI. "The Intelligence Illusion"

https://illusion.baldurbjarnason.com/

Stuff I cover (not exhaustive):

- AGI is not happening any time soon.
- AGI and anthropomorphism will cripple your ability to think clearly about AI
- The AI industry has a long history of snake oil and fraud
- These models copy more than you think
- Hallucinations are still a thing and aren't going away.
- AI "reasoning" is quite broken
- Security is a shit show

Polls in many countries such as the US and the UK continue to show majority support for mask mandates in public spaces and on public transit. By refusing to do what is right, leaders are putting corporate interests over the health of the public.

My husband took this a couple of hours ago. The moon as it rose beside the #SpinnakerTower in Portsmouth.

It was pretty cold down on Fishbourne Beach on the #IsleofWight where we were standing with the camera and #telephotolens ready.

The moon is only in the right position to photograph this a couple of times a year and it needs to be a virtually cloud free sky, so we had to brave the freezing temperatures! #photography

Kyrsten Sinema single-handedly stopped Democrats from ending a tax break for hedge-fund managers and private equity executives.

Meanwhile, she received ~$1 million in donations from Wall Street.

Don’t be fooled: Sinema isn't “independent.” She's beholden to her donors.
