Yeah, this isn't going to go over well.

Discord is growing up, so everyone needs to pick a new username https://www.theverge.com/2023/5/3/23710259/discord-new-username-discriminators-number-tag

Discord is making all users pick a new username

Discord is getting rid of the four-digit discriminator that it appends to usernames. This means all users will have to choose a new unique username while also getting the opportunity to create a non-unique display name.

This is so true.

Once Twitter’s Blue Check became attainable to everyone, suddenly the “legacy” Blue Checks didn’t want it.

So much about social media is about clout.

The reason the old Twitter influencers don’t like Mastodon is because they have to build their clout from scratch.

Meanwhile, Bluesky is rolling out the red carpet to them.

Personally, I don’t like clout chasers. But that’s me.

@[email protected] It works well. If you only allow celebrities, certain classes of journalist, etc. onto the platform as creators and the 'regular people' to consume until you're 'stable enough for capacity testing' you build in a group that has a head start. Worked for Gmail, Facebook, etc. People enjoy feeling exclusive, look at how quickly they moved away from the checkmark once it was obtainable by 'regular' people. @[email protected] @[email protected]

Afternoon mograph. Just a quicky, placing some particles in a pleasing arrangement, and having them each orbit a random position before returning to home.

This is using my new easing curve. This pleases me.

This is also the second video I've run in two days where someone is changing IoR (Index of Refraction) on materials that are not transmissive (light doesn't pass through them). Now, while that's physically correct (all real world materials do have an index of refraction, and light passes into their surface at least minimally), as far as I'm aware (and based on some cursory testing) IoR in Blender is strictly used in Transmission.

"In the real world, most metallic surfaces are not fully metallic."

Uh, afaik, all materials in the real world are either fully metallic or fully not. Fractional metallic qualities are entirely a figment of computer graphics.
