I stopped playing Magic: The Gathering (temporarily?) a few months ago, but now I'm starting to feel like my life is missing some sort of stupid nonsense that eats up all of my time and money. What do people think, is heroin any good?
Saw that this was tooted with the source cropped out before. Thought I would try to toot it with the attribution this time, rather than boost that one.

Great diagram of if and where you will see a toot from the #fediverse via @axbom #MastodonTips

10 quick Mastodon tips

There has recently been a huge rush of people trying out Mastodon. This is also noticeable in the number of people reading my earlier Mastodon Guide. I wanted to take this opportunity to provide a brief list of usage tips that I wish I had at hand when first setting

A charity fundraising marathon in support of Child's Play Charity

In two days #DesertBus 2022 starts. If you never heard of the world's longest running internet-based fundraiser, here is the elevator pitch https://desertbus.org/info/about.
Also here is a playlist of the always nice intros https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5PorLN9qQk&list=PLdFkb8808G3jVL1utr6yz-3pzSPfU02qk (DB2017 is my favorite, close second DB2019)
Hope to see you over at https://www.twitch.tv/desertbus.

I'm seeing a lot of proclamations that there should be no exceptions to describing your images or that there's no reason to interact with any that aren't described.

I know these mean well, but they are themselves ableist.

Disabled people know that access needs can clash. I benefit from described images, but I know some people struggle to write them because of their own disabilities.

And that's okay! The culture of image descriptions is great here but it should never be absolutist.

@stephenfry I THINK if you put the website URL back in the "profile metadata" part of your profile instead of in the bio, the ✅ should return like a loyal and temporarily misdirected friend.
@Akki Yeah, probably someone being a little overzealous. Unless they're on a server that actually disallows promotion, they can probably just ignore it.
@Akki My admittedly limited understanding as a Mastodon noob is that's just a norm not a rule (well maybe on some servers), and that it mostly applies to accounts who are basically only on Mastodon to promote stuff and not interacting with others on the platform like human beings.
