@gerdesj @gnome I found an Ubuntu 22.04 derivative that emulates different desktops. Zorin is based in IE and very actively supported. It's running quite happily on an old T540 with and SSD and 16G of memory I just had laying around.

I've started a journey the last few days to convert all my personal devices to consumer Linux and more secure phone OS options. I'm done having AI slop shoved in my face, privacy concerns and Microsoft Recall announced was the last straw. #enshittification It's been a while since I've played around with consumer Linux and I'm pretty surprised how far it's come. #linux #privacy

I have a PC that came preloaded with 10.

It is over 5 years old now. It still has not seen Linux yet, but that is because it has not seen power.

Just for spite, I wiil wait until after the 10 EOL before I install Debian.

@elementary @Endof10 Inherited an older gaming rig from my son. Despite excellent hardware, MS has deemed it ineligible for upgrade to w11. It is now rockin Linux Mint and is great for games! No windows or macOS in my personal compute for the last year, after 20 years of using Linux as a second OS. #endof10

@nextcloud Didn't know Germany had a Blauer Engel certification Curiously, there is a film named Der blaue Engel with Marlene Dietrich in it. Der blaue Engel ("The Blue Angel" in English) is the name of a cabaret, with Marlene Dietrich playing a performer with the stage name Lola Lola who causes the downfall of Immanuel Rath, who teaches unruly students at a nearby school.

Congratulations!

In 2001, I was tasked with giving the first 64-bit x86-based computer the ability to adjust ("margin") its internally-regulated voltages, to optimize power consumption as its work loads varied.

I'm glad to see continuing interest and work toward power efficiency in computing!
