The Josephs lab is hiring a research technician (as our current tech is heading to grad school this fall!). See here for specific details: https://careers.msu.edu/en-us/job/514360/research-technologist-i

Big congrats to Maya Wilson Brown for her first first-authored publication investigating how ecological niches differ across the native and invasive range of Capsella bursa-pastoris 🎉🎉🎉 #EvolutionPaper https://bsapubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ajb2.16140
Being an academic parent is like "Hey does your daycare have oppenings in one year" "Yes, can you come tour Tuesday mornings" "I teach that day" "How about Thursday mornings?" "I also teach that day" "Wednesday morning?" "Yes, but this Wednesday I'm on a seminar visit..." and so on until the daycare no longer has openings. Repeat.
Seeing so many UC professors openly support the strike is truly amazing, very different from when UofT grad students went on strike during my PhD. My hunch is that Twitter has helped build connections between profs & students, make everyone more aware of student struggles.
Hard to focus on science today 😬😬😬

Final revisions are finally incorporated so I'm sharing again!

Local Adaptation: Causal agents of selection and adaptive trait divergence

in Annual Review in Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics, coauthored with @SeemaSheth, @Emjo, Jill Anderson, and Megan DrMarshe.

I've never seen a set up like this before, very jealous of the small human that gets to ride around in this!

Just dropped my ballot off with the clerk! If you haven't already, please vote or make sure you have a plan to vote on Tuesday. This is a really important election.

Remember, #Michigan allows same-day registration now!

Remember to vote your whole ballot! Bernstein and Bolden look great for the state supreme court.

And please, if you care about the safety of anyone with a uterus, vote yes on prop 3 (the other props look good too!)

Introduction time: I'm a plant evolutionary ecologist at Davidson College (a small liberal arts institution in North Carolina, US). My research interests include local adaptation and phenotypic plasticity and I tend to study weedy plants that are easy to work with. I think social media is great for crowdsourcing ideas, inspiration, an advice - I hope we continue to do that here (and we'll see what happens on Twitter).
