@w7voa I realize the school probably won't comment on the child's "acute disability" but it seems like he had serious behavioral issues—why was the parental chaperone discontinued the week of the shooting?

Was the class a regular mainstream class or some kind of special ed?

@banks YouTube is like a crappy Dropbox of video sharing. Unreal you can’t do basic shit like search within a channel. Algorithm constantly suggests videos that YouTube already knows I’ve watched.

TLDR: Mastodon is very white, male, status quo, global north, and designed in a way to limit its potential for use in social movements.

Mastodon feels very different from Twitter, deliberately. It is truly like Live Journal. It is about people who are happy with their social circle and who think of virality and discoverability as a problem. They just want to communicate with the people they know, and limit other things. Ironically, it is more like a private gathering than a public space.

@markphip NBA is only slightly better—you can stream in the NBA app unless its your local area or it’s being broadcast on abc/tnt/espn. I have Sling for games on broadcast/cable and NBA league pass for everything else.

@ronitadancis Assuming it’s not prohibited by your lease, pay your rent in cash, make your landlord deal with the hassle of writing you a receipt and depositing/reporting their cash income (which can increase their chances of being audited).

@sam it feels like it’s gaining steam this week, and going into the holidays there will be a substantial number of people with the time to invest in transitioning from bird to elephant
