The ethics weren't really a consideration cus all the comp are also evil AI shill mega corporations. I wish there was a company that just sold good indexs for a fair price and you could self host seach easy but alas

@tante to the people saying "I guess I'll look at zig then" it's a fun language and comptime feels like magic but it has a very different use case to rust. More of a better C than a completely new approach to programming like rust

@mntmn if it makes you feel better I had this happen on my x86 Ubuntu machine with a seemingly full correct update 5 months ago. No solution but to reimage

@mntmn I think the biggest thing keeping people who love your machines from jumping in is the price. I was able to convince my lab to buy one for me but otherwise I wouldn't have been able to justify it. For 600 plus a CM5 I could have swung it

@mitchellh the part about loving github but it not loving you back enough to be the place you can still get work done feels so tragic. Github was so good whole generations of devs treated it like the default choice. We never learned how to use other forges or VC because you don't fix what isn't broken. Complete dominance of a market with excellence squandered in the name of Microsoft juicing everything just a bit more. Enshittification's most profound victim.
