Main altar of the Tin Hau Temple, Joss House Bay, Hong Kong

One of the oldest and largest temples dedicated to Tin Hau. It was built in 1266 by two brothers who were salt traders from Fujian province. One day their boat was caught in storms and as they were swept overboard they appealed to Tin Hau for help. To show their gratitude they built the temple on the spot where they came safely to land.

An abandoned Hakka mansion in Yuen Long. This beautiful and historical old building still faces an uncertain future.

Mt Kangchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world at 8,586 m (28,169 ft), appears to be floating on a cloud.

The huge Buddha image at the Wat Muang Monastery near Ang Thong in Thailand. Surrounded by verdant green rice fields it looks particularly serene. At 92 metres (300ft) it dwarfs everything around and is the largest sitting Buddha in the country.

The area was declared the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in 1982 although the Tengger Sand Sea has been a protected area since 1919. It covers an area of 5,250 hectares and is actually the caldera of an ancient volcano called Tengger through which Bromo and four other vents emerged.

Sunrise over Gunung Bromo and the Tengger Highlands

Sunrise over Gunung Bromo is one of the earth's great spectacles. I first saw it, in less than perfect weather conditions, twenty-years ago.

An image I shot back in 1986 of the iconic tower of Reykjavik's Hallgrímskirkja, seen through the spires of Hateigskirkja.

Hallgrímskirkja was completed in 1940 and, at 74.5 metres (244ft) high, is one of the tallest structures in Iceland. It is named after the local poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674). Hateigskirkja was consecrated in 1965.
