It is annoying to play a game and enjoy it, only for a bug that prevents progress to show up at that moment.

Game studios this is a thing that game testers are used for, I know you're trying to save money and stuff like that, but at least take time to game test your own stuff then.

There's no excuse for it, period, and that goes even more for the big game studios that DO have the money because they churn out their £60, recycled games.

Speaking of, whatever happened to 'you'll get the games cheaper if you buy them digitally, because there's no packaging' ,anyone remember that LIE they told us all?

So, back to playing Nethack, the ultimate dungeon crawler.

It's very much proof that you don't need stunning graphics to make a great game, but guess where the studios that make the Triple A games splurge their money. It's not on the GAMEPLAY let me tell you. Still, I prefer having a minor graphics pack on for Nethack, nothing fancy.

Now i'm not any good at Nethack, but that doesn't matter, I do seem to improve by little bits, but I guess that's the sort of game it is.

Also for that matter, I'm looking for Dwarf Fortress with some minor graphical pack as well. Not that it can't be played with the original ASCII stuff just fine.

So I would like to play fighting games like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8.

No problem you think, right? Just save up and buy them.

Yes, but I realize with these fighting games it is best to wait, after all, eventually when all the DLC is released for it, they're going to make a 'Ultimate' version of the game where all the DLC is included...

And eventually that is going to be on sale as well. So yeah, pretty much playing the waiting game there.

Getting into the automation type of games now.

First of which is one called Techtonica, pretty cool, unlock new areas as you deposit new resources and such.

Second one is one called 'Oddsparks' and it really is odd. You end up automating things using little Pikmin like creatures.

Also i'm aware of Satisfactory, but I haven't played that one yet.

Gaming wise, not too much up lately.

Managed to get a collection of old game boy YuGiOh games for my Switch.

Actually interesting when you start to get your head around it as well for that matter.

Might have considered even picking it up for real if there was any place near here did that stuff.

You can spend millions on developing a game, one that has the latest realistic graphics, voice actors, storylines written by the latest writer that is popular, hours of gameplay...

But if it isn't fun to play, then that indie game with a simple concept made on a budget by one developer is still going to become more popular and might even make more money.

So, AAA Game developers, take note and make your games fun and then everyone will be much happier, including yourselves.

You can also pay me for the advice, thanks, not like your money is doing much good.

It's all very well playing games where it's very much strategy, think three moves ahead, when to use an item, when to strike, things like that.

It's all fun, but sometimes you just want to play a game where you mindlessly hack and slash though hoards of enemies that can do little in the way to stop you!

One game that was always good at this was the Dynasty Warriors series, and games like it. Admittedly the last I played in those was one of the earlier games, but it's sometimes fun to come back to!

There are other games that are similar, but not the same, the Mount and Blade games are a good example of that.

There's also fun examples from the past as well, some old RPG's for example, such as the Dark Alliance games, back in the PS2 era.

They don't seem to make ones like that anymore.

What type of world is it coming to when the cheap, store brand cola is just as good/bad as the more expensive branded stuff?

With games becoming ever more expensive, and lets face it, dubious quality from some of the well known companies. If not crammed full of micro-transactions and/or lootboxes, I often find myself turning towards the indie game market to find quality games worth playing.

It is why I love it when and indie game is particulary successful, games like Undertale, Stardew Valley, or Palworld. Or even just the games that get great reviews that might have went under the radar otherwise, games like Against the Storm or Tainted Grail.

It's time for these main companies to step up, indie games will only be appearing more and more, not all of them will be good, but there will definitely be some gems among them.

Of course SOME companies respond to this by whining and trying to suppress indie games, or try to stifle and quiet the competition if some of these indie company games DARE to be successful. Mentioning no names there.

As a gamer I think it's a good time to support indie games and the studios that make them.
