Catch my #Evol2023 talk tomorrow (6/22) at 3:15pm in Ruidoso (220) as part of the Bioinformatics I section. Will talk about practical application of linked-read sequencing and how I *really* want you to process those data with minimal friction.
Reminder for folks at #evol2023: public transit, including the lines that serve the airport, is under a pilot program to be fare free. Help out the citizens of Albuquerque by keeping demand high. All aboard!

My @SystBiol presidential address is 8 am local on Saturday for #Evol2023

It's on the importance of naming (still tweaking):

#SnailDarter and #Dams
#Misconduct
#EponymousAwards
#Eugenics and our community's role in it

Boldly and accurately naming things is a key step in addressing issues, and has impact on research but also how our field works.

Please attend!

On my way to #Evol2023!
Excited to share our new publication on the evolution and ecology of the Waccamaw Darter, Etheostoma perlongum! With co-authors Thomas Near, @fish_genomes, Rich Harrington, Dylan Wainwright, and Nate Backenstose. Ecological speciation of E. perlongum is associated with a large chromosomal inversion, which appears to have convergently evolved in Atlantic Cod and Rainbow Trout. #fish #genomics #speciation #inversion #evolution #ecology #phylogenetics https://doi.org/10.1093/evolut/qpad067
Lacustrine speciation associated with chromosomal inversion in a lineage of riverine fishes

Abstract. Geographic isolation is the primary driver of speciation in many vertebrate lineages. This trend is exemplified by North American darters, a clade of

Spent some time getting back to my Anolis roots with Levi Gray, Jose Manuel Toledo Morales, and Cande Cundapi Pérez. 6 Mexican states in a week!
Having an incredible time at #SSB2023 ! Loving the setup of lightning talks: so digestible and easy to listen to, and loving the emphasis on systematics in Mexico. And the art is hard to beat! @SystBiol
Very cool symposium at #SSB2023 on systematics in #México and the importance of language/cultural #inclusivity in #science!
