Security Architect, Hacker, Photographer, I also Fly Gliders when I can.
Opinions are my own...
A festival is nice but I think making wearing a kilt to work should be normalized.
Having fun at M'era Luna.
Feels so great to be back at 38C3.
This is definitely not how I planned to meet 2024. I’m not sure I’m even mentally prepared to sum up 2023, because on a personal level it was one of my best years. 85 days in uniform and counting. May 2024 be as boring as it can be.
Well… I feel like I deserve some bragging rights :)
I guess he reached the finding out stage

@hacks4pancakes talks mentions OT folks retiring and loss of critical knowledge.

A few hours later I'm at a call with a developer who came back from retirement to help plug knowledge gaps.

@hacks4pancakes being great on stage :)
Midnight in Tel-Aviv! Not every day you get to be a part of history.
So it took the better part of the week, two ISP tech visits, a complete refresher course on fiber technology, 48 hours of hunting for a stupid configuration mistake (RTFM level), but I managed to get a 2.5gbps line to run on my own hardware.
Lessons learned:
1. You can't get most SFP+ cards to run at 2.5G even if the SFP module supports it.
2. CRS305 can switch really well, but you need hardware offload and that will only work for ONE bridge.
3. You can pull an OM4 pre-terminated duplex fiber through a wall conduit used by a phone line, if you stagger the connectors and pull the phone cable out.
Not a bad way to end the day
