IT Ops and InfoSec Professionally

Unprofessionally, I got like a million hobbies on rotation. Computer stuffs and D&D are the most consistent tho...

@masek Recursive problem solving vs queue based problem solving... I often think about how I do the former instead of the latter.

Tbf sometimes you have to fix the other problem before you can fix the first, but I'd probably get more done if I tried to optimize more often. ADHD is a helluva drug.

@da_667 That thread was hours of trauma distilled down to a hilarious two minute read, ty for your service 🫡
@devopscats haha -internal screaming-

@JessTheUnstill Feeling that this week. Our chairman and CEO got everyone claude subscriptions then had an all hands and said get on board or GTFO.

Lots of koolAId drinking and yesmannery, it's depressing. Like I think it can do some neat things like format my kb articles for me, but does it really need to permeate everything I do?

Meanwhile I'm reading articles about how much these data centers are gonna set back climate change and that the job market is a dustbowl... 🫠

Corporate just caught the AI bug hard... and I was already having a bad week.
@geekysteven I'm currently running a faewild D&D campaign with wacky celebrity characters in it like Goblin King David Bowie. This is absolutely being added to the world now. Ty.

Every time the media talks about a "cost of living crisis," they frame it like a passing storm. We are told to just weather it.

But when the cost of basic survival skyrockets and wages stagnate, we are looking at a permanent, systemic downward shift in class. Wealth is actively being extracted upward into assets the rest of us do not own. People are being quietly squeezed into poverty while working full time. The baseline of a secure life is being dismantled, and our diminished quality of life is exactly how the top tier is securing their gains.

EFF is finally leaving X and here is a blog post about why: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/04/eff-leaving-x
EFF is Leaving X

After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue.

Electronic Frontier Foundation
dungeons AND dragons? in this economy?

@JessTheUnstill See... this made me more upset than it should have and my first thought was that I believe the first iconic internet thumbs up was the like button from facebook. So I went and searched for the old facebook thumbs up sprites, and they got it right!

So this wasn't just following a standard, someone made this choice and I'm even more upset now...
