MSNBC: Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) has been reelected

If Nevada is called for Sen. Cortez-Mastro, as so many of us expect it will, it would mean Democrats walk into the GA runoff with control of the Senate.

Thank you, organizers. <3

These two maps are a good example how data visualization influences our perception. Same election, same results, but one shows the winning party by area, one by population density. (Map Credits: Karim Douïeb, Jetpack.ai)

Edit: This is not based on the midterms this week. I wanted to point out the difference in visualization. It was originally done in 2019

The new head of #Google's #AI section is Jeff Dean, a prolific and quite skilled #programmer.

How skilled you ask?

We'll here are some true facts about him:

Me reading The Hunger Games in 2008: wow what a crazy, unrealistic story

2018: children are going to the capital to fight for their right to not be murdered by each other and a creepy looking TV star is there pretending like nothing is wrong

I agree.

In my experience, there are things we can do to make life more fulfilling. They might not always lead to what's externally considered 'success' or 'excelling', but things like small kindnesses make us more human and happier.

I guess that's where the interpretation of 'mediocrity == stalled self-development' makes a lot of sense.

We can be choose to be better even if it doesn't necessarily mean 'winning everything'

Really, asking "what should replace Facebook" is putting things the wrong way around.

A more interesting way to ask the question is, "what did Facebook replace."

People used to build their own websites. People used to have blogs. People used USENET which was truly distributed and un-censorable.

Facebook and Google took the open internet and open standards and monetized and made everything crappy. Enough of that. Nothing should replace Facebook, it's done, stick a fork in it.

You know, sliced bread... It's kind of only a marginal Improvement at best.
