USS have today started notifying just under half a million people that #Capita lost their data to Black Basta. USS didn’t include nation insurance numbers taken.. which enables fraud.
Due to legal requirements in the UK, every pension holder in every impacted pension scheme will need to be notified individually - according to media reports, this is up to 350 pension schemes. So this may become the biggest data breach disclosure ever in the UK.
Me and a few other climate folks on Twitter have noticed a very clear new prominence of climate deniers and delayers
So with some help, I gathered up some data and checked - it turns out that denial/delay, pro-fossil disinformation accounts have seen massive growth in their audience, while pro-climate-action accounts have either stagnated or shrunk.
Elon Musk is reshaping Twitter into a safe space for right-wingers, and in doing so, empowering climate change deniers, delayers and pro-fossil advocates more than ever before.

Twitter removing platform protections from trans people due to its owner repeatedly falling foul of them is the signal I need that it's time to remove Twitter.
Keeping my account to avoid impersonation but deleted the app from all devices.
Update: moved this to my new writing site so there’s a new URL.
Every hashtag on every post on every platform should always be pascal case. I wrote this to illustrate how screenreaders read hashtags based on their case.
It’s a small thing that all of us can do to build a more inclusive, accessible internet for all. Please take the time to use pascal case.

In a couple of different places on Mastodon this week I’ve seen people saying something to the effect of “what does visible alt text matter, it’s for screen readers.”
Here are just a few scenarios why people might want to view alt text visually:
1. “I made the post and I want to double check the alt text I wrote.”
2. “I did not make the post but I want to learn how other people write alt text so I can write better descriptions.”
3. “I’m having trouble making sense of the image but I think a written description would help.”
4. “My vision is enough to read text at my preferred font size but not in a tiny screenshot with jpeg compression.”
5. “This is what works best for me because of reasons I don’t want to get into.”
Accessibility is for everyone. Try not to make assumptions.
Migrating from Twitter as it seems to be falling down so if you're received a random follow from that's just me importing my contacts 👍
Please reach out if you think I've missed you!
