@edmn @cabel it does. But sometimes you want a different card.
@anildash I’m not sure Apple was embarrassed per se about the Walmart partnership. I always saw it as an experiment they ran to test the waters with a low cost machine without committing to building something new. The Walmart MacBook Air was only available in the US as far as I know. Now that they’ve run the experiment and obviously seen it as successful they can roll out a new machine worldwide that they can put their full marketing power behind and offer it through multiple channels.
@jami @twostraws he didn’t say he wanted one. Just to poke at one. Plus, even if he did want one he did not say it would be his main machine for coding or anything like that. Sometimes people just want a browsing computer or one that does lightweight tasks only. This computer fits that bill. What’s insufficient for you might be perfect for someone else.
@twostraws they will be in stores starting March 11th.
@daringfireball @gruber there is a compare page of sorts for the displays on the main displays page. https://www.apple.com/displays/
Displays

Choose your monitor. Studio Display is great for creators and everyday users. Studio Display XDR is perfect for pros.

@gruber that’s fair. A lot of the talk around iPadOS 26 was “we have these window management buttons and window resizing on the Mac, what if we brought them to iPad?” And there was much rejoicing. Whereas I was less than enthused about those changes. Haha
@gruber just listened to the most recent Dithering and found it interesting. There was much discussion about let the Mac be the Mac and that it should look and feel separate from iOS/iPadOS. And in the past you have both praised iPadOS for becoming more macOS. I’m interested in why the distinction and if you think it’s just that you prefer macOS or is it something else?
@marcoarment I think that if we were to logically think about this and give the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming the worst, it’s safe to assume that you’ll be able to resize your content so that it isn’t obscured by the tools. Just like Photomator does today. (Screenshots attached) It’s easy to be cynical and negative about this stuff to get rage filled responses, but I’d bet good money this will be a non-issue.
@anildash I would argue that it shouldn’t, and getting it closer to macOS is damaging what makes iPadOS unique. Let the iPad be the iPad and let the Mac be the Mac. I don’t understand why one has to be like the other.
@brendonbigley as a former Apple employee who spent 11 years there, it was my favorite digital media player ever. I still miss it.
