“Said the river: imagine everything you can imagine, then keep on going…”

This week’s #WaterfallWednesday snap: Black Hill
Believe it or not this was taken in May! It was VERY soggy to get to, and we were almost stranded by the river crossings getting back to the car.
If your eyes only follow the clearly marked Pennine Way you’d never know it was there.
Look below the soldier’s lump & trig, listen closely and follow the contours of the streams…there you will hear its roar.
It’s a beast and a beauty 😍

Mural recently painted to honour Dame Vivienne Westwood in #Glossop by local artist #Deggy
Brightens the place up a bit when wandering around the town. 😎

KIN.DER Zine - Issue Two — KIN.DER

Welcome to issue two of our KIN.DER Zine. Art and creativity has never been more important. It’s empowering, it’s meaningful, it’s escapism, it’s inspirational. We must hold it tighter than ever before and find ways to support the things we cherish, the things that nourish us.

Out and about on Cown Edge. I am fortunate that it is within walking distance of my home. Photos were taken when the sun made a brief appearance!

Misty days in magical places are just the best.
Especially early morning hikes in the Peak District.
Here’s a snap from a few weeks ago, climbing the dragon’s back of Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill before the weekend riff faff arrived.
Both marked by the CPRE as ‘Ethels’ - places dedicated to Sheffield countryside activist Ethel Haythornthwaite.
Beautiful geology, mining history, WWII bunkers and a racetrack nearby… What’s not to love.

National Stone Centre plans new £6.5m visitor attraction

Being a Derbyshire-born geologist, who spent a decent amount of time playing on the gritstone across the road at Black Rocks, I’m unreasonably excited about this proposal! 🤓

Ah, the joy of accidentally finding a group of millstones under a trig point… 🙏
This group of 7 are found under the Ethel ‘White Path Moss’, near Stanage Edge.
I almost missed them but the thick mist cleared for a few moments. 🧐
Every time I see a millstone they bring me joy ☺️
A lovely ‘polo’ reminder of times gone by.
Once used for grinding grains into flour, millstones were designed for use in the water, wind and steam mills of Derbyshire.
