Re-watching Withnail & I for about the millionth time. I love this film so much. It's a masterful mix of tragedy and comedy. Richard Grant and Paul McGann are both perfect in it.

This is a dumb AU crack fic I wrote on Tumblr a few months ago after an Izzy hater there earnestly whined that nobody ever wrote 'cute 'coffee shop next to the tattoo parlor' AU fics in which Izzy called the cops on Stede. I moved it over to AO3 today because it's hard for me to keep track of things on Tumblr.
@friskybizfan I will probably fix it. I want all of my favorite characters to have happy endings.

@animenur They're definitely intentional reflections of each other. They're incredibly similar to each other in many ways, yet polar opposites in other ways. It's what makes the dynamics between them so fascinating. They both want to be the best pirate they can be. They're both in love with who they think Blackbeard/Ed Teach is, though I question if Ed has shown his full, true self to either of them or if he only lets them see what he wants them to see.
If they changed Izzy's name to Minion, OFMD would immediately become 1000% funnier and all the haters and antis would have nothing to bitch about, IMO.
@tikli @sweveris I know the original intent was that the QAR was sailing along side the Revenge but we never did see it. It amuses me to imagine that Blackbeard had all his coolest fuckery stuffy sent over to the Revenge early on as part of his plan to murder Stede, and then he sent the QAR back to his lair on Ocracoke Island and told his crew to wait for him there. They're still there bc no one told them Blackbeard changed his mind and decided to date Stede instead.
I was thinking about that hilarious bit in 'The Art of Fuckery' when Izzy gets all flustered trying to get Blackbeard out of that harness before he chafes his balls... I wonder how many times Blackbeard actually did chafe his balls wearing that silly harness because he was trying to scare the crew on some ship the QAR raided. And did Izzy have to put salve on chafed balls? And why did Blackbeard bring that harness and all his fuckery smoke pots with him over to the Revenge in the first place?
