@johnmu Hey John - we had this weird one, we saw a period where the robots.txt (and other files) were not fetchable. But the response we were getting was "Not Fetched - N/A". Can you help us understand what that means? The docs don't have this error type (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6062598?hl=en&authuser=1#check-status:~:text=See%20your%20robots.txt%20files%20and%20crawl%20status)

AFAIK (Unless the UA/IP range was being flagged as a bad actor by CDN) these pages were fetchable to all at the time (we've checked the logs!)

Tracking Rankings on AI Chatbots

Most major LLMs (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Co-Pilot etc) can cite their sources when returning answers. This means links in outputs - somewhere new to gain traffic from!So now you’ll want to know how you rank on LLMs as well as search Engines, right? Rank tracking is bread & butter for SEO, but it may not be as simple here. The answers from LLMs are based on probability & creative variance (temperature) amongst other things. Thinking about the Romaine Empire.

@johnmu I have an encoded URL question. GSC is showing a load of reported pages where Google is selecting a different canonical to the user-specified. But most of those appear to be where the canonical is an encoded (French) URL, but the Google-selected one is the non-encoded version.

E.g.

- Canonical: https://www.domain.com/%C3%A0-la-r%C3%A9glisse

- Google-Selected: https://www.domain.com/à-la-réglisse

Is this a quirk with the UI (and effectively a false-positive) or is this something I need to worry about?
