A pencil is an instrument of opimism.
Think about it for a moment.
A pencil over 95% writing material and,
Less than 5% rubbing out / erasing material.
That feels highly optimistic.
I tend to have as many mistakes as successes.
It’s a good metaphor to think about learning from failure.
And try the ‘pencil, eraser, sheet of paper starter pack’
Here’s a post I’ve written explaining more.

A pencil is an instrument of optimism.

Think about it for a moment. Your average ‘ box fresh’ pencil is over 95% writing material and less than 5% rubbing out / erasing material. If that’s not a instrument of optimism …

What's the PONT

When you are a facilitator you run into all kinds of speech patterns.

When you are a teacher, you run the risk of engaging in all kinds of speech patterns.

Some are unhelpful and it’s useful to understand the reason why.

@ChrisBolton helps us to understand a bit more.

One of the most converted things from my youth was my cousins denim jacket with Sassafras embroidered on the back panel.

Sassafras.
For almost half a century I thought Sassafras was a progressive rock and roll band from #SouthWales.
Turns out it’s also a plant, native to North America,
With many uses
Making Root Beer one of them.
Amazing murmuration the other evening. Especially the formation of a ‘bird of prey’ shape

Dog Eyebrows.
Domestic dogs have evolved facial muscles to move their eyebrows.
This allows for the ‘puppy dog eyes’ that make hooomans love them more,
give em treats, and adopt them.
Wolves don’t have it,
or Siberian Huskies.

Dogs evolved a special muscle that lets them make puppy dog eyes

An explanation for those puppy dog eyes Human selection has resulted in dogs evolving more expressive faces. They have a facial muscle for making the “puppy dog eyes” that melt many peoples’ hearts that does not exist in wolves – the ancestors of dogs . This muscle allows dogs to lift up their inner “eyebrow”, …

The crystal clear waters in some of the Snowdonian rivers are breathtaking. Filming along the Afon Glaslyn felt like being inside an aquarium at times!

So much this:

Asymmetric Dominance Effect
Forgotten I knew about this.
A technique (trick) used in sales and marketing to ‘nudge’ us towards buying things we otherwise might not have.
Yes, it’s sneaky and underhand, but we fall for it.
Ever bought the *big* coffee?
Broadly called the Decoy Effect
And its also used in Business Case Options Appraisals.
More on #DecoyEffect here ⬇️
