Torrential SF Rains and HNY!

Usually the countdown to midnight has a different cadence, but SF rainfall is nine one hundredths away from a record that stands since the Gold Rush! 5.45 inches since midnight, with six hours to go. Stay safe! #AtmosphericRiver !

“6 pm update for downtown SF rainfall since midnight is now at 5.45 inches, keeping us in 2nd place all time for the moment. Can we do it???”

@palafo you didn’t. My inference from the tone of your initial post.
@palafo I don’t know about paying to follow journalists. I am not paying anything to follow journalists; and no one is paying to follow me. I have used a point to ‘buy’ paid content on a pay per view basis. That may be useful if it can scale - especially for local where the issue has long been one of scale.
@palafo I’d ask you whether you may be jumping a little rapidly to what sounds like a fairly final conclusion. The onboarding experience for you was quite different than for others (including me) who are NEVER asked for a cc. The ‘points balance’ is a beta test to see if there is a way to create a long discussed, never successfully executed micro payments system for professional content including you & colleagues in news business, especially local. Everyone gets 50 ‘free’ points 1/
We stay and fight on Twitter. We will outlast the narcissists/crazies. However, also good to have alternatives. So far I have been using Mastodon and http://post.news which is in beta testing & has a waitlist that goes quickly.

Imagine a piece of tissue paper.

Coat it with cyanotype chemicals.

Fold it into an origami crane.

Let it be a crane for a while, in any place with a bit of light. Ignore it, play with it, whatever.

After a while, unfold it. Develop.

You'll get an image.

The image is the memory of it's experience as an origami crane.

Repeat. Every crane's experience - and hence every image - will be unique.

Here's 4 out of the >750 I've made so far.

We have decided to create an account at Mastodon. We need time to learn how this platform works but also how to synchronize our work here with the Twitter account.

Thank you all for joining us here. No matter where we are, the mission stays the same. We are in social media to commemorate the victims of Auschwitz and educate the world about the tragic story of the camp.
