If you're the kind of person who is willing to create troll accounts of people, use their info and twist it just enough so you're enflamatory, I feel like you're also the kind of person who needs a little more happiness in your life.
Please go outside. Breathe some fresh air. Touch some grass. live a little.
The way to make yourself happy is not by hurting other people.

And more importantly, and what I actually came to say here, if you're that kind of person, please leave me and mine alone. Please unfollow quietly if you're here. Please walk away. I can't stand this petty, childish, and vaguely insidious bullshit. I have neither the time nor the spoons.

Okay, thanks. Bye.

Gave into Windows 11, Microsoft's tactics worked on me. I really wanted to have no Ethernet connections to my desktop, just Wi-Fi - and 2.4 GBPS is just shy of the 2.5 over wired. So, Windows 11 it is. In order to get ram leaks and usage down to a lower amount, a lot of compromises had to be made.
- no Search box on start menu. SearchHost.exe uses anywhere from 200 to 400 MB Ram, with it growing and never shrinking, so it was nuked per group policy in the registry.
- Quiet CrossDevice (CDP): HKLM + HKCU policies; stop/disable CDP services; disable CDP/SharedExperience tasks. CrossDeviceResume.exe was always using anywhere from 62-100 MB ram. Thus its presence had to be removed. I don't care about doing things across devices, I just want my OS to be an OS, stay out of the way, please.
- Memory knobs: disable MemoryCompression & PageCombining; App-launch prefetch & Superfetch OFF; SysMain disabled. I don't need memory compression when I have 64 gigabytes of it.
- WpnUserService → Manual; TabletInputService → Disabled. Don't care for push notifications in Windows 11, they can die a blissful death to me.
With this, Windows 11 at idle, after boot and using MemReduct to clean standby lists, can go as low as... Drumroll... 1.85 GB. Of course, I also have Windows Defender and security center killed because I don't want them. I'd rather be mindful and use a tool to manually scan a file against a virus after download, and run weekly scans myself, than deal with the overhead.
Yesterday I got to experience the joys of a half-finished Linux update being interrupted by a server reboot.
Today I learned about the way tar stores and resets permissions, the hard way.
That was quite a lot of downtime butI'm preeeetty sure we're back.

It's official: WhatsApp (non-beta) for Windows is going to be downdated to the web version on november 5th. I just got a pop-up when I opened the app. The text is as follows:

The next update starting 5 November

Some changes are coming to WhatsApp for Windows. Channels will be available and you’ll be able to do more with Status and Communities.
What will happen:
• You’ll be logged out
• You’ll need to open WhatsApp on your phone to log back in
• Up to 1 year of chat history will sync from your phone
<OK>

For the #VoiceOver users out there, be warned. In #iOS 26 the pop-up windows, such as the reaction picker window in WhatsApp don't work. The window opens for long enough to VoiceOver to say the first item in there, quickly closes, and focus moves to the first element on the screen. Feedback has been issued to Apple about this. I would've posted earlier but I waited for a fix to this and now since the release candidates are out it's almost impossible for a fix to appear in the public version.
On September 5th, I released my second single, Verbally Crucified, under the artist name Greathawk.
This five-minute piece of symphonic metal dives deeper into my story of breaking free from a religion.
Where Initiate Doctrine laid out the whole journey, Verbally Crucified focuses on the pain of being pinned down and wounded by words — the way language itself can become a weapon.
As with my other songs, this is not an attack, but the truth as I experienced it. If even one person feels that these lyrics echo their own struggles, then I’ve done what I set out to do.

And this is not just another single — it’s part of a larger journey that will be revealed soon.

It occurred to me that I haven't posted on here about it yet. So here goes:
On August 1st, I released my debut single, Initiate Doctrine, under the artist name Greathawk. This seven-minute piece of symphonic metal tells my story about breaking free from a religion. It begins a conceptual journey of which I hope to release an album in the future. It's not an attack, rather it's the truth from my experience. Like I've said on other mediums, if one person finds that my music resonates with them, that's enough. The single can be listened from the following link:

The next single will be out on September 5. #newmetal #Greathawk #ConceptualMetal #SymphonicMetal #EpicMetal #NewMusic #metal

Hi everyone!

We've just pushed a very important security bugfix release for #GoToSocial v0.17.3 and below:

https://github.com/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/releases/tag/v0.17.4

If you are running on GoToSocial v0.17.3 or below, you should update to v0.17.4 as soon as possible. It's a very small update from v0.17.3 -> v0.17.4 as it contains only some code logic changes, and no database migrations.

In short, when a dereferencing bug is triggered under a specific set of circumstances it can cause loss of account data on affected instances. It's a rare thing to be triggered, but when it does happen it really, really stinks, and necessitates restoring from backup or manually editing the database to get things working again. (It's not possible to access or tamper with data by triggering the bug, only destroy it.)

We'll release a proper CVE for this in a couple of days when admins and packagers have had a chance to update.

Please note that folks who are already on v0.18.0-rc1 or latest snapshots are unaffected and do not need to do anything, as the bug occurs specifically in v0.17.3 and below. This means if you prefer to update straight from v0.17.3 to v0.18.0-rc1 then that's also an option; you can follow the release notes for v0.18.0-rc1 in this case.

So! If you know folks on GtS v0.17.3 or below, please let them know that they should take action! Link them to this post if you want! And please boost for visibility :)

Thank you everyone! <3 Computers!

So let me get this: this company first steals everyone work to train their AI. Next, they tell the world it is world-class, and users should pay for it. However, they themselves don't want to use anyone to use AI tools to boost job applications because they found out AI-created resumes all lie. In other words, replace all human jobs with our AI except for our own company. We want real humans because we know it is all bullshit.
Anthropic (Claude LLM) AI Company doesn’t want people using AI for their resumes or any part of Interview for software developer or IT jobs at their office. How ironic? LOL. The company says AI tools are flooding their system with bogus résumés and too many applicants. They can't find real talent even using their own AI system where candidates lie about their skills when resumes are created by AI.
