Gathering data in space is difficult and expensive, leaving space biology and health researchers with very limited datasets to work with. This makes it difficult or impossible to use standard statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.

Join our Panel on Innovative Solutions challenge to help use #AI and #MachineLearning to better exploit existing data improving techniques to generate realistic synthetic data to amplify intrinsic biological signals.

All participants will receive support, including access to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration data, computational resources and expertise. One team will win a prestigious award presented at the #COSPAR2025 Scientific Symposium in Nicosia, Cyprus in November 2025.

Declare your interest to join the challenge by 19 May: https://cosparhq.cnes.fr/news/join-the-quest-to-shape-the-future-of-space-exploration/ #artificialintelligence #lifescienceinspace

Did you know that water stress currently affects around 250 million people in Africa? The field of space hydrology can help change this.
If you’re an African early career researcher interested in space hydrology, this workshop may be for you.

In collaboration with the Laboratoire d'Etudes en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiales (LEGOS) in France and the University of Douala in Cameroon, we are organizing the African Space Hydrology Capacity Building Workshop (AfrHySpace).
Join the workshop in Kribi, Cameroon from 17-29 November 2025 to learn to use space hydrology to address drought and flood issues in Africa. This workshop will build the scientific capacity of space hydrology and includes a field session where you will gain hands-on experience with in situ data collection and analysis.

Applications are open until 6 June: https://afrhyspace.tech/en/

SPACE HYDROLOGY The sound management of water resources on the African continent is a major scientific and societal challenge, due in particular to ongoing and announced climate and demographic change. According to the World Meteorological Organization in its report «State of the climate in Africa 2021»between 1991 and 2021 [...]

Our Panel on Innovative Solutions (PoIS) is thrilled to announce a second public challenge, this time putting #AI / #ML to work in the field of space biology and health research, specifically in the amplification and realistic simulation of rare biomedical data points from spaceflight.

How does it work? We'll provide access to relevant data from the NASA Open Science Data Repository, expertise, and computational resources to help you tackle this complex challenge. In return, you'll provide your creativity and fresh ideas needed to solve pressing real-world problems.

The winning approach will receive a prestigious award at the #COSPAR2025 Symposium in Cyprus, be recognised as a leader in the field of space situational awareness and (potentially) make a real impact on the future of space biology and health research: https://cosparhq.cnes.fr/news/join-the-quest-to-shape-the-future-of-space-exploration/ #artificialintelligence #machinelearning
